Problem Solved

Well, I do feel silly now. I recieved a slightly annoyed email back from WotF last week saying they still had six stacks of manuscripts to go through and I got an email this morning letting me know that my manuscript had been recieved. So the kinks are worked out, the manuscript is in, I'm kinda excited about its prospects, and I have to wait another 7-9 weeks to hear back. Wish me luck.

Shadow Love

I've heard people say that most writers are working on several stories at one time. It seems to be true, at least in my case, because I have four open stories on my desktop right now. I had a great idea during church today for a new story tentatively called "Shadow Love." I haven't gotten very far into it yet, but I think I have a decent outline in my head. I'll give everyone an update on it with the first page when I've solidified it a little more. I'm a little more hesitant to put down first pages now before actually completing a work, because I keep rewriting "The Envoy" and I may rewrite it yet again.

Anyhow, stay tuned for updates as I gain momentum with my writing.

A Problem

A funny story for you.... I dropped Writers of the Future an email last night on the fly because I hadn't heard back on my story. Afterwards, I felt a little silly as I reread their guidelines and realized that you're supposed to hear back 8-10 weeks after the deadline and not the submission. This morning, though, I got an email back from them saying they haven't gotten anything from me. So I'm in contact with them, trying to get this sorted out. It would really stink if it turns out they never recieved it, because it's been three months since I submitted and it's now the beginning of a new quarter and if I resubmit, I will have to wait four to five months before hearing back. From the feedback I recieved from Brandon Sanderson on "The Ballad of Hero Kyros" I was very enthusiastic about its prospects. If it turns out that I'm down on my luck on this one, I will send "Hero Kyros" off to one of the magazines and wait till the end of the quarter to submit again to WotF.

On the other hand a dear friend and supporter of mine, Nancy, who helped me out with the money for the Literary Bootcamp has signed me up for a subscription to Asimov, Analog and Fantasy and Science Fiction. She said they were my Christmas and birthday presents. My birthday, by the way, isn't until January. She is far to kind to me. So a big thank you out to Nancy and it seems that I owe her a story in each of those magazines in the near future.
