It's a Boy!

I know just about as much about giving birth as I do about, uh, stuff I don't know much about. However, I think I've gotten as close to giving birth as a guy can (a guy who hasn't passed kidney stones).

I have finished my first novel.

Now, hold your applause. Please, please, you're too much. Thank you.

In twenty days I will be shipping a hard copy of "Butcher's Price" to a publishing house where it will sit in the "In" box for a year or two and then, Heaven willing, someone will pay me incredible amounts of money in order to put my stuff into bookstores worldwide.

Climax is a Dirty Word

I'm sitting over at my grandparents' place watching CSI. It's good stuff. I got into CSI about 15 months ago, right before I met Michele and right after I found out I had rheumatoid arthritis. Needless to say, CSI has kept me warm through plenty of cold nights.

CSI New York and CSI Miami both seem a little off to me. I'm all about the original. The other two are just cheap knock-offs. Except I am glad that they used Who songs for all three series.

I've hit 131,500 words. So, making progress, even if a bit slow. It's nice to get back at it after all those pesky midterms. Of course, I'm also a little frightened of finishing. It's my first novel. It's kind of a big deal to finish something like that. Like going on a roller coaster*. You know it's gonna be great, but that doesn't make the first hill any better.

I'll be done soon though. I'm writing my way up that hill on that diagram your ninth grade english teacher always showed you of a story's rise and fall action; more specifically, the final climax.

Boo-ya

*This is a very poor analogy if you actually know me. I hate roller coasters. It's not the speed. The speed is fun. It's falling I have a problem with.
